The self-care trend is much louder and stronger than ever and I am so here for it! As a huge self-care fan, I know how easy it is to forget to take time for yourself in the midst of a busy day- however that is absolutely no proper excuse! Whether you are on vacation or in the workplace, you always deserve a little self care! With working so often and going back to university, I have learned to pick up plenty of self-care tips along the way that you can benefit from during your next shift.

If my workspace is cluttered, as is my brain. Beginning with a clean desk or work area is so important to me and makes it very helpful to focus. Even if I have to take a few seconds to clean things out of the way before starting my work, I will do it and it’ll make the day a lot more productive.

Group chats are the best because it is always nice to check in with your colleagues. Whether you spend a lot of time together or not, it is always nice to get a feel on things are playing out or to receive any feedback on current projects etc. It is also really nice to hear for brainstorming ideas in the pipeline, as it is interesting to hear other ideas and perspectives.

Obviously, this is a standard for living, but it is just as vital in the workplace. Staying hydrated at work will help you from feeling sluggish and push you to get your daily amount of water; I like to bring a water bottle with me whenever I head to work and just refill with the company water fountain. It is also important to take at least 30 minutes away from the work desk and eat something, whether it be big or small, a lot of us get carried away with work and don’t even want to eat!

Sitting at a desk for too long is not always the best thing for your body, so I recommend getting up and being active every few hours. Whether you are getting up to grab another coffee, grab lunch, or just taking a few steps out in the fresh air it is nice to be surrounded by nature. It really helps me to feel more rejuvenated before returning to work.

I love music when I work because not only does it help time move faster, but it also helps me relax and keep my thoughts flowing. Another amazing thing I love is a playlist that is motivating for me- I typically aim for business podcasts or entrepreneur based ones-I will compile a few to make them last a few hours while I work away. It is very easy to do since we all know what our interests are and it is kind of like watching a movie or TV show without seeing the visual of it.
