Over the past few years, I am sure you have all seen(or at least hear of) Bulletproof Coffee-if not, you will soon. It became a huge foodie trend around 2016, solely because of its high health benefits. Bulletproof Coffee is also often referred to as upgraded black coffee that is blended with ghee and and Brain Octane oil, which is very similar to coconut oil. According to Wikipedia, the recipe was created by Dave Asprey and he claims that the drink boosts brain performance as well as weight loss. Sounds good enough to me!
Additionally, according to Women’s Health: “Bulletproof coffee is a great way to get healthy fats first thing in the morning. Starting your day with healthy fats will provide your body with energy, benefitting your cognitive functionality, and supports your hormonal system”. Now, you might be curious how or where you can try this, and luckily for you, I found an awesome tasting recipe!
Asprey’s recipe calls for coffee made with “upgraded” beans, then adding 1–2 tablespoons of ghee and 1–2 tablespoons of “Brain Octane” oil (I use regular coconut oil). Then blend for 20–30 seconds, until it becomes frothy. It will need to be blended not just stirred into the cup and I prefer to add a low calorie sweetener for taste! I would suggest you have this for breakfast in place of a meal, as there is a ton of fat from the oils, so you wouldn’t want to have this and actual food that would be too many calories. The oils and caffeine are meant to jumpstart your metabolism for the day and will aid in weight loss.
